Polytetrafluoroethylene is a fluoropolymer with low friction, chemical inertness, water repellency and thermal stability. Teflono uses it as a dispersed solid lubricant inside engineered grease matrices.
PTFE maintains useful structure across extreme temperatures; grease performance then depends on base oils, thickeners and additive stability.
PTFE boundary films reduce metal-to-metal contact and target friction coefficients near 0.04 in well-dispersed formulations.
Strong carbon-fluorine bonds give PTFE high resistance to acids, bases, solvents and saltwater exposure.
PTFE and hydrophobic silica help create moisture barriers that reduce washout and corrosion pathways.
PTFE has the repeating formula (C2F4)n. Its carbon-fluorine bond strength is the reason it remains one of the most important industrial polymers for harsh-environment lubrication, sealing and coatings.
